Cheese Bouikos

Tiny cheese bites that taste just like pizza. # 388: Cheese Bouikos

The happiest cross between a cheese scone and a pão de queijo, with three types of cheese holding them together.

Bouikos are one of a group of Sephardic pastries called “boyos” which translates to “little buns” in Ladino. Here are your geography and linguistic fun facts for the day: Sephardi comes from the Hebrew word for Spain, meaning Sephardic relates to a Jewish person connected to Spain/Portugal/North Africa/the Middle East. And Ladino is a medieval dialect combining mostly Spanish, Hebrew, Greek and Arabic and is considered endangered due to the dwindling number of speakers worldwide. Now you’re prepared for your next bar trivia!

Jusssst enough for a tiny cheese pull!

I’m entering my easy baking era with my due date in three weeks. These lil guys only used one bowl and a cookie scoop – huzzah!

A cheese trifecta: cottage cheese, feta and mozzarella.

Basil and garlic freckles.

Scoop there it is.

A tiny pyramid of cheesy goodness.

Happy munching!
